How to Commit to Your Desires

Updated: Feb 14, 2023

...even when they haven't happened, YET.

Desire, Manifestation, Creating your Dream Life

Committing to your desires is an important step in achieving success and fulfillment in life. It requires dedication, courage, and a willingness to take risks. When you commit to your desires, you are making a conscious decision to pursue what you want and to take action towards achieving it. This means that you must be willing to put in the effort and time necessary to make your dreams come true. You must also be willing to face any challenges or obstacles that may arise along the way. Committing to your desires can be a difficult process, but it is worth it in the end as it will lead you closer to achieving your goals and living a life of purpose and meaning.

It's easy enough to say "commitment is key," but what are some manageable ways to stay committed?

#1 - Let go of the outcome

Surrender. Create the space in your life to allow what is meant to flow to you to come in. You block the miracle when you get too rigid on how things "should be." Sometimes what you "think" you need, isn't always in alignment with your highest good.

#2 - Enjoy the journey of feeling into the desire

If you wait to feel the joy of the desire until it is perfectly manifested, you rob yourself of the joy in the journey. Take time to reflect on your growth, allow the gratitude to come through, and celebrate each step of the process. Gratitude is the best friend of commitment. If you don't allow gratitude to speak, then self doubt will. Limiting beliefs are the quickest way to fall off your path.

"Most people fail, not because of lack of desire, but, because of lack of commitment." – Vince Lombardi

#3 - Show up

Commit to taking at least one step each day. What this looks like will be unique to you. It's ok to reframe productivity. In the process of redefining what success looks like for me I discovered my unique workflow. I realized when I put too many large tasks on my to do list I got very little done. More time was spent being overwhelmed than productive. Instead, I started writing down what I would accomplish throughout my day in hindsight. Not only did I get twice as much done, it provided me the positive feedback that I needed to continue to show up each day and commit to progress.

#4 - Mix up your environment

Sitting at home in eye shot of the kitchen sink full of dirty dishes is probably not your ideal productivity zone. (Though, for some, maybe it is! I have had a couple productive sessions by task avoidance of the dishes and "rewarding" myself by doing my vision work instead!) You might be surprised at the different inspirations that come to you when sitting at a coffee shop vs. a park. Try it out!

#5 - Celebrate milestones

It doesn't always have to be balls to the wall. If it is, don't be surprised when your nervous system wants to get the hell out of dodge! When you meet some measurable success points take time to breathe and enjoy the wins. Balance before burnout is key in reaching the finish line.

Life's a dance, you learn as you go

Commitment is the key to reaching your desires. Knowing how to navigate and balance commitment is the beautiful dance to be experienced on the journey.
